• Pitter Patter Grant
     

    The OSTA Pitter Patter Grant is a micro-grant of up to $250, available to schools who wish to implement or support a School Active Transportation Initiative during the current school year in which the application is made.

    School Active Transportation (SAT) is an OSTA supported program designed to encourage and promote the use of human-powered modes of transportation by students, and their parents, on their daily trips to and from school.  The human-powered modes may include walking, biking, scootering, rollerblading, use of a manual wheelchair or other assistive devices, etc.

      The school’s SAT initiative must meet the following goals:

       

      1. Educate students, parents and staff about the benefits of using active transportation to get to school.
      2. Get more students walking or rolling to school, at least once, or more times, this year.
      3. Get more parents to walk or roll with their children, at least once, or more times, this year.
      4. Provide some pedestrian safety training prior to the event.
      5. Have measurable goals and measured outcomes.

      Any OCDSB or OCSB school may apply for one Pitter Patter Grant, annually.

      Applications will be sent to and reviewed by OSTA. Funding will be prioritized based on the strength of the application. In addition, applications will be prioritized according to the following criteria:

      1. Schools which are not currently receiving other SAT services from OSTA;          then
      2. Schools which receive SAT services but are making this their first Pitter            Patter Grant application; lastly
      3. Schools which receive SAT services and have previously received a Pitter          Patter Grant.

      Pitter Patter Grants will be distributed twice per year, up to a maximum of $10,000 per semester from September 1 to January 15, and from January 16 to June 30 of the school year. Once OSTA’s funding allocation has been completely delivered, no other funds will be released to other applicants. Confirmation of the award will be sent to the school. Any outstanding applications may be revised by the school for the next deadline date.

      Semester #2 Application Deadline - January 15, , funds distributed between January 30 and June 30 according to school event timeline *This year, the application deadline has been extended to April 30th and funds will be distributed between March 9 and June 30

      Applications for the following school year may be submitted no earlier than May 31 of the current school year.
